stork plaque

I took this photo last month near the Medersa Ben Youssef, a medieval Koran school in Marrakesh. It was in the center of a brass-clad doorway near the school. Storks roost everywhere in the old city, mostly along the medina walls and along the tops of various ruins. Apparently they’re considered sacred birds, and disturbing or abusing them in any way carries a hefty prison sentence.
